Lamb Account Manager – Ireland Retail

 

Role Purpose: Responsible for the profitability of the retail lamb category and development of customer joint business plans, in line with the overall objectives of the Kepak Meat Division

Reports to: Commercial Director

 

Direct Reports: N/A

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop a profitable commercial lamb strategy in conjunction with the lamb commercial manager to deliver on agreed margin targets.
  • Develop customer account and category plans to drive retail sales revenue and margin in accordance with agreed targets and portray Kepak as a best-in-class supplier.

 

  • Commercial Planning: In conjunction with the lamb commercial manager and the sales director, develop a profitable sales strategy to enhance margins and deliver on sales revenue targets
  • Customer Relationship Management: 
  • Ownership for all aspects of customer satisfaction with KMD incorporating both internal and external relationship management

 

  • Account Planning and Category Management:
  • Develop and implement joint business plans with existing accounts to maximise category returns and drive sales through the account including detailed range reviews, new product development and new opportunity identification
  • New Business Development:
  • The development of new profitable business including identification of new business opportunities aligned to business objectives, detailed range reviews and new product development
  • Promotion planning and forecasting:
  • In conjunction with the customer develop detailed promotion plans to drive sales and deliver on both internal and customer margin and revenue targets
  • Price File Management:
  • Manage customer price files including systematic checks to ensure accuracy and compliance to promotion lines
  • Market Analysis:
  • Track and monitor market trends and conduct regular desk and field market research to drive NPD and category management
  • Compliance to KMD policies including the management of debtors
  • Flexibility in carrying out other tasks that arise to ensure the overall objectives of the sales team are achieved

Experience / Skills Required:

 

 

    • Min 3 years Account Management and/or Category Management experience within the food industry
    • Experience within the meat industry / Irish retail sales or retail category management a distinct advantage
    • In depth product knowledge of lamb retail specifications and commercial yields
    • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of account profitability
    • Proven track record in delivering sales / category targets and development of new business including development of new product lines
    • Ability to interpret sales data and market trends and make recommendations to drive profitable growth
    • Fluency (written and spoken) in English essential
    • Suitable third level qualification (E.g. Business, marketing, food science)
