Working Hours: Sunday to Thursday nights from 2030 until 0600 


Role Definition: To provide effective plant and equipment start-ups ready for the following days production. To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Follow Up Tasks arising from the days production. The role allows good deployment of engineering labour outside of normal production hours which is key to meeting our PPM Completion Rates.


Budget Responsibility: Responsible for booking out parts used against Work Orders using Tablets linked to the Pirana CMMS to maintain safety stock levels and to ensure that true costs are captured against work completed


  • Accountabilities: To carry out effective Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on machinery, plant and equipment following clear instruction.
  • To carry out General Work Requests (GWR), maintenance and rectification works following audits, inspections and production requests.
  • To rebuild and make ready all production machinery and equipment, pre-production, ensuring that once rebuilt the equipment is in a ready to run state and clear of faults that would delay production.
  • To react to and rectify Water Treatment Plant alarm events to ensure the plant remains operational to meet its daily discharge limit.
  • Provide engineering support to production on start-up in a reactive breakdown capacity before providing an effective hand over to the incoming day shift.
  • Working to make continual improvements and recommendations to reduce repeat common point failures and improve site efficiencies.
  • Keeping workshops, plant rooms and engineering storage areas clean and tidy to a standard that exceeds the requirements of internal and external audits.
  • Keeping workshop tools and equipment serviceable, clean and ready for use to meet the requirements for tool control.
  • To keep up to date, and accurate records of work completed by way of the Tablet based CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and Technical issued paperwork.

To issue Permit to Works to incoming Contractors.




  • NVQ 3 or equivalent electrical/mechanical.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition.
  • Good sound knowledge and working experience of Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize own workload.
  • Be a good communicator at all levels.




  • Previous experience of working in a similar role.
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role within the food industry.
  • PLC Experience (Omron & Siemens).
  • Waste Water Treatment operational experience.
  • Refrigeration systems knowledge.
  • 5S Experience.
  • Working experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
