Job Title: Technical Assistant Manager                                                       Site Reporting Line:  Technical Manager

 

Location:  Kepak McIntosh Donald, Portlethen                                         Functional Reporting Line:  N/A

                                                                                                                                  

Job Purpose: To support the site Technical Manager for all aspects of technical and quality management.  By taking a shared responsibility for implementing best practice technical systems and managing the onsite technical teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Coordination of the Technical teams on site to ensure:

·        The site complies with regulatory and customer standards

·        The Food Safety Management System is effective and implemented.

·        The Sites HACCP/VACCP/TACCP structures are fully resourced, effective and implemented.

·        That each Business Unit (BU) engages in routines to maintain a proactive approach to technical management.

·        Effective gap analysis is in place against all key standards.

·        Development of the Technical Leads (TLs) within each BU to facilitate independent management of day to day technical activities including engagement with FSA, customer and regulatory bodies as required.

·        Support the TLs in the structure and management of Technical QC teams.

·        Support the TLs in the effective root cause analysis correct and preventative actions for any non- conformances which arise.

·        Continually develop and maintain technical and quality systems across site to ensure the site is audit ready at all times.

·        Provide information, advice and support to the Site Management on all aspects of Technical and Quality Management.

·        Contribute to continuous improvement objectives in relation to site and customer performance.

·        Ensure implementation of Crisis Management plan as required.

·        Ensure systems are in place to monitor customer KPIs in each BU and improvement plans are in place where necessary to maintain required levels.

·        Management of traceability systems in all BUs.

·        Any other duties as requested by management and within the competency of the post holder.

 

Skills/ Experience

  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare practices.
  • Graduate degree would be advantageous.
  • 1+ years management experience.
  • Experience in supporting customer and regulatory audits.
  • Knowledge of BRC, retailer, national and producer groups codes of practice food safety protocols.
  • Commercial outlook, recognition that food safety is a vital weapon in the product offer.
  • Experience of working collaboratively to support functional peers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with good Word and Excel skills.
  • A passion for driving operational business change.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and people management techniques.
